Patchworks x Redeployable: Why hiring a veteran was a no-brainer

Patchworks is the go-to specialist in integration platforms. They empower businesses to streamline operations efficiently, by connecting critical applications that optimise workflows, boost productivity and ultimately help them achieve their goals faster.

With huge investment and rapid growth, Patchworks needed to expand their revenue generation capability with new Sales Development Reps (SDRs). The trouble was, the candidates they were interviewing didn’t meet the criteria needed to really hit the ground running in the roles.

They needed access to candidates who were motivates, resilient, ambitious, quick-learners, and problem solvers. Traditional recruitment channels just weren’t cutting the mustard.

It was clear ex-military candidates would fit the bill

They needed a new, less traditional candidate pool. So enter Redeployable. We knew that we’d be able to offer a quick turnaround and that the caniddiate we’d give them would need a short ramp time before they’d deliver excellent results. We were right.

Dave Wiltshire, Founder and CEO of Patchworks said: “We were part-way through hiring some SDRs and Redeployable came along and put forward two candidates who were literally head and shoulders above others that were applying at the time.

“It became a real no-brainer for us. It was very apparent that Michael was the right fit for the role and you could see that in his approach to interviews.

The top-notch candidate

Michael Cracroft, former JTAC in the British Army, turned Sales Development Lead at Patchworks.

“Nobody grows unless you jump out of your comfort zone and that’s exactly what I did,”

After serving for nearly eight years in the British Army, Michael has proven to be the perfect fit for Patchworks. And, crucially, they were the perfect fit for him.

With training and support from Redeployable, Michael streamlined Patchworks’ recruitment process, showing he had the skills needed to shorten the ramp time as much as possible and make an impact on a growing business.

He’s previously served as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) in the British Army, a job he described as the ‘greatest’ in the military, but it didn’t give the flexibility he wanted in his personal life.

“Now he’s with us, Michael is doing great work, has settled in really quickly and he’s thrown himself into it. In a new industry, and especially in tech, you need that energy and willingness to learn and Michael’s had that from the outset.” Said Dave, CEO.

Continuing our partnership

“We see Redeployable as a key partner for us. We’re looking to grow and we’re increasing the number of people in the business who have those soft skills, whether that’s in sales, customer success or project management,” – Dave Wiltshire, Patchworks CEO.

We’re excited to be working with Patchworks long term, and will be placing more ex–military candidates into positions in the organisaion.
